OsteoCem® is a calcium phosphate cement for the filling of bone defects that offers excellent biocompatibility and osteoconductivity combined with high stability and easy handling properties.

OsteoCem® is similar to hydroxyapatite (HA) during the setting process. HA is characterized by a Ca/P ratio of 1.67 and has a low solubility. OsteoCem® has a Ca/P ratio of 1.45 and shows a better solubility compared to pure HA.

OsteoCem®’s properties provide medical professionals with a high degree of flexibility during a procedure.

The OsteoCem® cement can be prepared in 2 minutes and due to its viscosity, can be applied directly out of the mixing bowl with a spatula or via a syringe. For orthopedic and trauma indications there is no requirement for an additional waiting time after the application. The initial setting time of the cement at body temperature is reached after 9 - 14 minutes.

Field of Use

The indications of OsteoCem® include defect filling within the field of trauma surgery and orthopedics, along with vertebral body augmentation for the treatment osteoporotic vertebral body fractures type A1 (classification after Magerl) such as kyphoplasty.
